Professor Johannes Widodo

Dr Johannes Widodo is an Associate Professor, and Director of the MA.ArC (Master of Arts in Architectural Conservation) program, and Tun Tan Cheng Lock Centre for Asian Architectural and Urban Heritage in Melaka (Malaysia) of the Department of Architecture at the National University of Singapore. He received his first professional degree in Architecture (Ir.) from Parahyangan Catholic University (Bandung, Indonesia, 1984), Master of Architectural Engineering (MArchEng.) from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Leuvn, Belgium, 1988), and PhD in Architecture from the University of Tokyo (Tokyo, Japan, 1996).

Over the years, Dr Widodo has founded a variety of Architecture networks and committees, such as mAAN (modern Asian Architecture Network) and iNTA (International Network of Tropical Architecture). From 2013 – 2019, Dr Widodo served as an advisory board member of the Preservation of Sites and Monuments of the National Heritage Board of Singapore. He is also a member of several committees with a focus on heritage and preservation.

Aside from his positions at Chongqing University, Prof. Chu is also a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto in Canada and the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. He is China’s National Grade-1 Registered Architect and is a member in various societies and committees in China, both architectural and academic. He worked as an Architect in KPMB Architects (Toronto) and Claus en Kaan Architecten (Rotterdam). 

Over the years, Prof. Chu has successively won the China Young Architect Award Design Competition Excellence Award, the first Chongqing Outstanding Young Architect Award, the WAN Awards World Architecture News Award among others. He presided over a number of national, provincial and ministerial-level scientific research and education reform projects, and also published “Start Design”, “The Dutch Code: City and Design in the Vision of an Architect”, and more. Prof. Chu specializes in public building design, urban design, public transportation and urban space research and so on.

Dr Sun Ling Ling

Dr Sun Ling Ling is leading a multi-disciplinary R&D team on developing innovative healthcare devices. She graduated in 1996 from Nanjing Southeast University majoring in Microelectronics. For three years, she worked at Shanghai HuaHong NEC Microelectronics Company and Shanghai Advanced Semiconductor Co., Ltd. In 2000, she came to Singapore and studied at Nanyang Technological University, where she obtained her PhD in 2004. She has served as a senior engineer in Singapore Silicon System Manufacturing Co.. Her research projects have won multiple innovation awards from The Institution of Engineers, Singapore and the Ministry of Education.

Dr Sun is also the Deputy Secretary-General of the Singapore Jiangsu Association, participating in organizing many scientific and cultural exchange activities between Singapore and Jiangsu Province.

Mr He Xiaoqiang is a renowned landscape, architecture and interior designer in China; and a product strategy and space experience design consultant. He was a design consultant for the Chongqing Municipal Government’s key project “Two Rivers and Four Banks in the Main Urban District of Chongqing”.

Mr He actively advocates the concept of “overall design”, and design that respects nature and humanity. He has presided over the landscape design of many important projects, such as the National Aquatics Centre (Water Cube) for the Beijing Olympics. Mr He is also an expert in hotel design aesthetics and a travel writer. He has edited a series of design reference books such as “Discovering Chiang Mai” and “Exploring Langkawi”. He used to be the host of Baidu Travel’s “Living in” and “Traveling” column, and a special guest of Shenzhen Satellite TV’s “Happy Home” column.

He is a council member of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance of the Overseas Chinese Federation of Jiangsu Province, and the Overseas-educated Scholars Association of Nanjing. Mr Yang is the Vice-President of Jiangsu Performing Arts Group, and Director of the Theater Production and Operation Committee. He is a state-level art supervisor who has been engaged in stage art for more than 20 years. Having planned and organized many large-scale events at home and abroad, he has had the chance to work with global artists such as Djeev and José Carreras. Furthermore, Richard organized the creation of “Hanfeng Hua Zhang” , “Yu Mei Ren” and other national song and dance dramas, and led the troupe to perform in Singapore.

In 2016, he was named outstanding expert by the Ministry of Culture, in the category of Cultural Operation, which is the first time the honor was awarded to the person who runs the cultural industry. He has published a number of articles on cultural industry, such as the evolution of cultural industry structure driven by the emerging economy and marketing research of Jiangsu Performing Arts Markets. From 2016 to 2019, he was the deputy general manager of Jiangsu Grand Theater, the largest theater in Asia. He is committed to the construction and operation management of cultural venues.

杨润森 国家一级艺术监督，从事舞台艺术经营二十余年，策划组织过许多国内外大型活动，和世界艺术家捷杰耶夫、卡雷拉斯等有过良好的合作，曾组织创作《汉风华章》、《虞美人》等多台民族歌舞剧，并带团赴新加坡演出。2016年被评为文化运营类文化部优秀专家，这也是该项荣誉首次颁予文化产业经营人士，2010—2019年担任江苏演出家协会副会长、江苏演出行业协会副会长，期间发表过《新兴经济驱动下的文化产业结构演变》、《江苏演艺市场的营销研究》等多篇文化产业类文章。2016—2019年期间担任亚洲最大剧院 江苏大剧院 副总经理，分管演出、舞台等工作。目前担任江苏舞台美术学会副会长，剧院建设运营专业委员会主任，致力于文化场馆设施的建设及运营管理。

Dr Zhou Zhao Cheng is President of Jiangsu Association (Singapore). He is now also serving as the standing committee member of Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of Social Affairs Committee of Singapore Federation of Chinese Clans Association. Dr. Zhou is Executive Director and Chief Strategy Officer of Haidilao International Holding. Before joining Haidilao International Holding in April 2018, Dr Zhou was the vice president of Singapore Press Holdings and served with Lianhe Zaobao for more than 18 years. Apart from the Adjunct Associate Professorship with NCPA of Nanyang Technological University  , he is also a visiting professor of School of Journalism and Communication of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies since September 2014.

Phan Ming Yen

At present Chief Executive Officer of Global Cultural Alliance (GCA), a not for profit arts and culture organisation since 2015, Phan Ming Yen has close to 30 years of working experience in the various fields of journalism, arts management, content creation and place management. In 2009, Phan oversaw an arts and cultural event, which featured major Chinese fashion brand Aimer in Singapore for the first time. Phan is also a music historian and writer. As a music historian, his writings have appeared in Cultural Connections, the journal of the Culture Academy of the Ministry of Culture, Communications and Youth and the books Singapore Soundscape: Musical Renaissance of a Global City. As a writer, Phan published his debut collection of short stories That Night by the Beach and Other Stories in 2012 and is also one of the four writers in the collaborative writing projects, The Adopted: Stories from Angkor (2015) and Lost Bodies: Poems Between Portugal and Home (2016) while other short stories have appeared in the online literary journal, Quarterly Literary Review Singapore.

Mr Wee Boo Kuan is a businessman with more than 30 years of experience in the field of Health and Wellness. He has a strong interest and experience in ecological Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability initiatives (LOHAS). He was instrumental in establishing Singapore’s first certified organic farms under Biological Farmers of Australia (BFA) in the late 1990s and was involved in the wholesale and retail of organic products (Brown Rice Paradise) in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Australia. He initiated the development of a range of Australian certified organic personal care lines and obtained organic certification for a hotel in Western Australia.

To commemorate his father Wee Cho Bian’s 25th year of passing, Mr Wee decided to co-found Extra•Ordinary People. In close collaboration with the business community and other charities, Extra•Ordinary People focuses on the special needs community in Singapore, contributing to a more inclusive and vibrant community.

In the day, scholar-writer Dr Tan Chee Lay works as Associate Professor in Chinese at the National Institute of Education. At night, his creative flair emerges through Chinese creative writing, calligraphy and painting.

Dr Tan is a founding member of Poetry Festival Singapore, and a judge of the Cultural Medallion and SEA Write Award. He has been conferred the Young Artist Award; Singapore Youth Award; and Golden Point Award. As the George Lyndon Hicks Fellow at National Library, he enjoys researching into Nanyang literati and artists, and recently launched a webpage, VeryNanyang, to share and promote Nanyang cultures. A prolific writer of various genres, he has published over 20 books of scholarly essays, poetry, children’s picture books, short stories, and prose, the latest being Landmark Poetics of the Lion City (City Book Room), which won the Singapore Literature Prize in 2018.

陈志锐曾在东西方求学，获台湾师范大学国文系学士、英国莱斯特大学商业管理硕士、新加坡国立大学英国文学硕士及英国剑桥大学汉学博士。现任南洋理工大学国立教育学院亚洲语言文化学部副主任。他曾担任新加坡华文教研中心副院长及院长（研究与发展）达十年。他也受委国家图书馆华文阅读委员会主席，教育部、社青体部、艺术理事会、华文报集团的咨询委员，新加坡美术总会荣誉顾问，以及剑桥大学、香港大学、新跃社科学大学的兼任讲师。 作为一名学者作家与艺术工作者，陈志锐曾发起新加坡全国学生文学奖、新加坡诗歌节，并担任东南亚文学奖、新加坡文化奖、金笔奖、新加坡年度书籍奖等评审。他曾获新加坡文学奖、金笔奖、方修文学奖、青年艺术家奖、全国杰出青年奖、陈之初美术奖等。其撰写并主编华文创作、中英文学术论著逾20种。
