20 Oct 2017 / 3pm & 8pm / SOTA Concert Hall
The Business Times organised a fundraising concert in October to raise funds for two beneficiaries – Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore) (MDAS) and School of the Arts Student Assistance Fund (SOTA SAF). CapitaLand Limited, through its philanthropic arm CapitaLand Hope Foundation, is the presenting sponsor of the concert.
Held in the SOTA Concert Hall, Sunburst featured talents of all abilities. Highlights of the concert included former NMP and well-known thespian and musician Eunice Olsen’s performance with MDAS beneficiaries, a vocal performance by Adelyn Koh who has visually impairment and a piano performance by Ron Tan who has hearing impairment. The Guest-of-Honour for the evening performance was Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ms Sim Ann. The concert raised more than $230,000 and was attended by close to 800.
Prior to the concert, members of MDAS and students from SOTA came together for a collaborative linoleum printmaking project, and the resulting works were displayed at SOTA’s Year 1 & 2 students’ Visual Arts exhibition.
Sunburst had a simple message to convey: to promote a more inclusive society in Singapore, and to raise and empower a new generation of creative and talented people to give back to the community in different ways.
Global Cultural Alliance Ltd was the producer for the concert.
