Resonates With

September-December 2017 / National Gallery Padang Atrium

September’s edition of Resonates With draws inspiration from Hari Raya Haji and ASEAN’s 50th anniversary and explores the diverse landscapes of Southeast Asia through its sounds. Notable performances included Balinese music from BronzAge Gamelan, Z3nith Ensemble who gave pop music a guzheng twist, and some a cappella regional folk tunes by the voices of Vox Camerata. On top of that, a Bansuri (Indian flute), a Dizi (Chinese flute), a Western flute and a veena came together to perform Let the Wind Carry Me in Strokes of Life: the Art of Chen Chong Swee exhibition on 24 September. The ensemble called The Flute Conversations illustrates how instruments of different traditions and musical languages can interact with each other and with the visual art with the aim of creating an integrated experience with the art of Chen Chong Swee.

Global Cultural Alliance Ltd also curated the programme for Resonates With in the weekends of November and December 2017.
